The professed mission of Fellini is to "unmask" the deep truth of this world and beyond, in order to learn about reality unfiltered by the preconceptions of society. He does not provide, however, easy solutions or a comprehensive framework for assessing and summarizing his work. Many dualities are clearly identifiable and have merit in the ongoing evaluation of his films, but mere categorization will never be sufficient to exhaust the possibilities of interpretation set up by this master of cinematic story-telling.
