Abstract: La stanza del figlio focuses on a family dilemma, a disruption to the unceasing rhythm of globalized society in which individuals adeptly transition from one daily role to another. The film contains many international influences and recognizes the contributions of many disciplines as it highlights the increasing facility of man to transform his experience, to record and repeat it, to reinterpret and refine it. Reality undercuts this endless revisionism with a few irreversible transformations, immobilizing the once dynamic and tireless modern man and woman. The director, Moretti, emphasizes a break with the traditional belief that people come together in time of grief and tragedy. This film shows that the old values cannot hold true for modern people, as they did for simple, isolated people in earlier generations and societies. Encouraging aspects of life ultimately return to the family, and in time they find the strength to return home together, to the land of the living. Key-words: Moretti, cinema, globalization, family |
