Rimanelli's novel, Detroit Blues, deals with the complex social and political milieu of the city of Detroit - and by extension of all America - in the '60s, the racial struggles, emigration, ethnic plurality and interchange, hostility toward homosexuality, violent neo-Nazi groups, and even the possible recycling and sale of human flesh.
