RITES OF PASSAGE AND RECONCILIATION IN THE GODFATHER SAGA, THE UNTOUCHABLES, AND THE CARDINAL
ANTONIO ROSSINI
McMaster University,

This article will try to assess the relevance of the religious aspect of particular sequences of the Godfather saga by Francis Ford Coppola, The Untouchables by Brian De Palma, and The Cardinal by Otto Preminger. The religious element will be investigated not only from the point
of view of immigration studies, but also as the pivotal frame in which the personal stories of struggle and suffering of all the characters of the three movies are cast. Also, cursory attention will be given to an anthropological1 and sociological reading of the religious interface of immigration.
