Savoca's volume comprises ten articles ¡ª two of which were
previously unpublished, while the remainder have appeared in a variety of venues. Only four or five of the chapters are actually article-length studies of between twenty and thirty pages, whereas the rest are commentaries of not more than seven pages. The texts are loosely arranged in chronological order, and the first and last chapters function as frames since each constitutes a full-length reading of an individual composition. [...]
